Something from Nothing

“Something from Nothing” is a lovely story by author-illustrator Phoebe Gilman who is a master at writing children’s books that have delightful rhythms. The charming story is about a little boy’s attachment to his baby blanket that gets worn out, and the little boy’s well-founded faith in his grandfather who will fix his problems. Except one day, a problem arises that his grandfather can’t fix. And then the little boy does. As an added bonus, as the main story is unfolding Phoebe Gilman has a sub story of a little mice family underneath the floorboards of the house. Enchanting. Every family should own this book.
