Speaking Conferences & Meetings

One way I am able to encourage people is through speaking at conferences or meetings.

I speak on a wide variety of topics, some for a more general audience and others more specific to homeschooling parents. Below are topics that I have spoken on, but I am open to other topics as well (click on a topic to read more).....

General

“Do not fear” is commanded dozens of times in the Bible – probably because fear is such a common and powerful emotion. In this talk I share the antidote to fear – straight from the Word of God.
Because of the truths in God’s Word, we dare live in a different way than the world. We will examine several important truths that we can dare to live.
We won’t be happy even if we get all the things that our society values and seeks, but we can have an abundant life.
We tend to present ourselves as so much more perfect than we actually are, but being real with others will help them as well as help ourselves. In this talk we will examine who God says we really are, and how freeing and life-giving it is to be real with Him and with others.
Some of us have had wonderful fathers, but too many have had fathers who abandoned their family, or were absent a lot (workaholic) or abusive, or emotionally distant. In this session, we examine what it means that God is our perfect, heavenly Father.
It seems that women have always been very concerned about their appearance, we want to look attractive – but what should a godly woman wear? In this session we find out that God prefers the “Layered look” as is described in Colossians 3:12-17).

Homeschooling

Helpful, practical tips, Dos and Don’ts, and a lot of encouragement as you start your homeschooling journey.
In this talk (or series of talks) I address common stresses homeschooling parents have (from “Can I even teach my kids” to “What about Socialization” to running the house while teaching your children, and more) and what to do to live a more stress-free life, enjoying your children.
A great deal of our children’s education happens outside of textbooks. I share about how much of our children’s learning takes place in our daily lives and how parents can be more aware and intentional in shaping this learning for the best. You will be encouraged to discover how much learning is happening effortlessly.
I share how to keep your sanity while you homeschool, by giving you practical ways to prioritize with some essential firm foundations for your personal, marital, and family life.
The picture perfect homeschooling family only exists on magazine covers. Comparisons cause stress and anxiety. In this session I share what are realistic expectations in educating our children, the tidiness level of our homes, and our family life I encourage parents to find the balance between accepting and even enjoying our “green pasture” with its “brown patches”, and knowing when and what to do about some of those “brown patches”.
In this talk, I share an approach that uses books and materials from a variety of sources. Some of these resources might even be other family members, friends, members of your church, etc. As people don’t all “come out of the same box”, I deal with the uniqueness of each homeschool family, each child, and each parent and how we can homeschool in so many different ways.
I share about how to teach multiple children of different ages and abilities. I touch on scheduling, doing some subjects together, training children to help around the house, and prioritizing.
