Understood Betsy

Understood Betsy by Dorothy Canfield Fisher

A delightfully written story about a nine year old orphaned girl who lives with her aunt and great aunt, who dote on her anxiously, unintentionally smothering her. When the great aunt becomes ill, Betsy is sent off to some relatives who live on a farm, and who show their love in quite a different way. The reader delights in seeing Betsy blossom, her brain waking up as she is expected to think for herself, do chores, and have a healthy amount of freedom. An extremely enjoyable read.
