A couple of weeks after the October 7th massacre of Israelis, our son, Josh, wrote an article about how Jewish people often wonder if their friends would hide them if the need arose (think Holocaust). Upon reading the article, many of our non-Jewish friends assured us that they would, indeed hide us. And most likely, they would. Maybe you’re one of these. So, thank you.
However, it really should not come to that. It might come to that, but only if those who aren’t our enemies, the ones who don’t hate us, do nothing now. If everyone who knows that absolutely nothing justified the rape, torture, killing and kidnapping of Israelis of all ages, takes action, it won’t come to that crisis. If everyone who believes that Israelis have a right to defend themselves against brutal terrorists takes action, the tide will turn. If everyone who doesn’t hate all Jews everywhere takes action, it won’t come to needing to hide us.
If you ever need to hide us, then that means that a lot of “good” people have not done enough against the evil forces behind the hatred and demonization of Jews. And it will be an awful time for everyone.
There is evil in this world (obviously), and it is not enough simply to not join, and not enough to simply discuss it among people who agree with you. Action needs to be taken.
By action, I mean things such as posting truths about the situation (there are plenty of Instagram or Facebook posts you can share*), writing to government officials of every level about the different things that are in their various jurisdictions. For example, writing to the mayor of your city about the calls for genocide in the “pro-Palestinian” protests or to the federal government about taking a stronger stand against Hamas rather than telling Israel to have a ceasefire, etc. Go to rallies to support Israel when these rallies are held. Buy Israeli products.
These things take time and effort, but don’t worthwhile things usually take time and effort? And what is the alternative?
Please be bold. We could sure use your help.
P.S. All the prayers are important and appreciated. But God also wants us to act. The Bible tells me so.
