Truth is light…light chases away darkness. God is both Truth and Light. His words are truth – they bring light to us, and this is especially noticeable in dark times. Whatever times we are in, we always need God’s truth and light.
It has come to my attention over the years that a majority of Christians don’t realize what truth, light, and life-giving words comprise the Hebrew Scriptures/Old Testament. It is these Scriptures that are being referred to when Paul writes to Timothy: “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness” (2 Timothy 3:16).
I would like to walk you through the Hebrew Scriptures, highlighting some life-giving truths, starting with Genesis. Many of us know the famous stories of Genesis – Creation, the Fall, Noah, etc. Let’s you and I read through Genesis and notice among these stories and others, wonderful, relevant, and helpful truths.
I will begin posting on January 1st – the first words of Genesis are In the Beginning so that’s a great time to start.
At the beginning of each post, there will be a section for you to read in your Bible. Read this section first. Next, read the rest of the post for that day—an excerpt from that reading, some comments, and a prayer that it has evoked in me and that you might like to pray.
A feast of God’s life-giving words is waiting.
