Is Your God too Small?

The answer to “Is your God too small?” has got to be “yes,” because after all, how can we finite, created human beings fully grasp the infinite Creator? But we can at least make a good start!

“The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork” is how Psalm 19 begins. and there’s so many other Scriptures that confirm what we ought to know as we observe the amazing, intricate variety and unfathomable beauty in creation. As it says in Paul’s letter to the Romans: “For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse” (Romans 1:19-20).

But that’s only the beginning! Besides having God’s awesome creation to observe, we have His Word, the Scriptures that fill us in on so much more: In them we learn about God, both by observing His interactions with mankind (He is loving, kind, patient, merciful, forgiving, slow to anger, provider, judge, generous,…the list goes on) and the specific instructions or things He says both about Himself, ourselves, and how we can be in relationship with Him.

Getting to know God more and more is a worthwhile pursuit, and it will never end, because He is infinite.

Look around at the creation, and be in awe!

Read the Scriptures, daily, and grow in your knowledge of our awesome God!

Talk to Him, listen to Him, and your life will never be the same.
