“And the Lord God made for Adam and for his wife garments of skins and clothed them.” (3:21)
Because Adam and Eve disobeyed God, He sent them out of the garden of Eden. This was because God didn’t want them eating from the tree of life and living forever in their sinful state. They hadn’t yet eaten from that tree, even though that tree hadn’t previously been forbidden. But now it was out of bounds.
And yet, even though there were serious consequences for Adam and Eve’s disobedience, God didn’t abandon them. He was still taking care of them as we see in Genesis 3:21, clothing them with garments of skin that God Himself made for them.
God’s mercy is so great that it would be easy to take Him for granted. I know that I don’t appreciate being taken for granted – how much more should I not take our Heavenly Father for granted!
Prayer: Thank you, Lord, that you don’t cast us off when we sin, but that You still take care of us! May I not take You for granted but be filled with gratitude for all your mercy.
