And Noah did all that the LORD had commanded him. (7:5)
…as God had commanded Noah. (7:9)
…as God had commanded him. (7:16)
In the last chapter we saw the utter wickedness of all of mankind…except Noah, who “was a righteous man, blameless in his generation. Noah walked with God” (6:9).
The above verses say that Noah did what God commanded him. We all listen to someone—whether our peers, what’s popular, or what we, ourselves, want. Listening to God is the best choice. He knows what’s best, even if it doesn’t feel “best” to us.
One time a pastor’s wife heard about something I was doing and gushed to me about how wonderful I was. “No,” I replied. “I’m just not stupid.” She looked shocked. I continued, “When God speaks, you can say “yes” or “no.” Saying no to God is stupid.” I have seen over and over in my life, when I say “yes” to God, He blesses me. His ways are always best.
Prayer: God, may I always say “yes” to you, even if it goes against what is popular (You know best) or what is politically correct (You know best) or what I want (You know best). Help me to discern how You are leading that I may obey. Amen.
